WILLIE WILLIAMS :: the bio

"Willie Williams is a force to be reckoned with..."
--Lee Roy Parnell

It doesn’t take too long to realize Willie Williams is the real thing. It is evident in his guitar lines, where the emotion of the blues, enriched by the sophistication of jazz, flows with the power of rock and roll. His instrumental virtuosity and situational awareness make him an invaluable bandmate- most prominently proven by his recruitment into Great Southern, the late, great Dickey Betts' continuation of the Allman Brothers tradition.
While exceptionally skilled in revitalizing archetypal Southern rock, his original music reveals a compelling voice of his own. His songs range from roadhouse workouts to contemplative blues, with lyrics unpretentiously poetic and down to earth, touched with humor and sympathy. His singing is effortlessly melodic and warmly conversational. You are listening to a person, not an act.
It is a voice developed over the years, playing covers in bands and playing solo gigs where he could road test original material once he’d won over an audience. Being a musician was his second life while he worked for years in corporate America. Now fully committed to following his performing dream, every song, every show is burnished by authentic, real-world experience.
